Title: Tags question.
Post by: NerdBird on March 21, 2008, 06:10:13 PM
Hello:

I just started using AL yesterday (1.8.07), so I may be missing something obvious.

How do I use tags?

I can create them, but I can't attach them to anything.

Any help will be appreciated. And thanks for releasing and supporting such a great program!

Tags aren't in the current versions, so you cannot use them.

OK.

Any idea about when they will be available?

I'm willing to beta-test them.

They'll probably be available soon.

If you do need help with programming, I was a programmer for all of my professional life, until I quit to become my wife's caregiver. I've got a good background in Java, C, Perl, and I'm working on Python. Actually I have a good background in most of the C-like languages and several of the others.

On the other hand, my schedule is very strange (Lee takes priority over everything else so I do other things as I can).

You can try this version (http://neocron.webspaceforme.net/library/installer/Advanced_Library_1_8_1_0.zip).
The basic functionality is there. If you change file or folder tags, that information won't be available for the search or the filter until you resynchronized or if you're using the new background indexer.

Thank you. I shall try this later today.

I'm having the same exact problem and I think I'm using the most recent version of this program (1.9.2.15)

Under settings and Tags it explains what tags do (and I've made the tags in the tags tab) but not really how to apply/attach them to folders or files.

I don't understand much about the program in general but this problem I think is holding me back from using it the most.

I have libraries Synchronized and Indexing is on.

I tried left clicking, but there are no options for tagging that way, and I don't see anything on the right that will help me to tag because all it seems to be is a hierarchical structure and below that a search function and a filter function.
