Title: Please tell me your favorite AL features
Post by: Dizzi on October 12, 2008, 03:37:49 PM
I'm about to rework the website to reflect all changes since v1.0.

To get a better idea on which features I could put emphasis on so more people get interested in AL, I'd like to know which Advanced Library features you like, use the most or can't live without and why.

If you don't feel like going through the forum's registration process, please mail me (see AL's help page for the e-mail address).

Thank you in advance!

I Can't Live without:
AL. Full Stop

The fact that I can put my content where I want it not where Poser dictates.
I like to have a Character's cr2, Poses, Mats, Props all together - not in different sections of the library
I haven't used the Poser or D|S for . . . since AL

Double clicking to load into Poser or D|S most used feature through the python script
Resizable fonts, borders, etc for all parts of the interface

Big thanks to you Dizzi for making this an extremely useful tool

I still must try some of its bells and whistles but I forget - just load AL and P7 and forget - getting old ;)

Wishing you all the best,
Martin

Hi Dizzi, sorry if this is too late but I feel I at the very least owe you a response for giving away such a useful app.  I can't use Poser any more without AL.

1. Just showing up - AL opens in its own window and has a task bar button.  This, combined with settings for "remain on top" make it better than the default library.
2. The "virtual" nature of the Library, so I can install content one way and organize it another in AL.  It's amazing how much navigating this can save.
3. Search, filters, etc.

That's what I "couldn't live without."

Thanks for the great app, not kidding about feeling like I've lost a limb when I'm using Poser and can't use AL.

P.S., which leads to its greatest drawback, by far, the difficulty of reinstalling AL.  The most recent install was painless, so maybe you've got it all sorted out, but I've had repeat nightmares setting AL up again on a fresh OS install.  I'm on Vista now so maybe the problems (dependencies, finding the right files to bring over to AL's folders) are done.

Oh, I haven't looked to see if the new (to me) image that springs up over the directory tree can be turned off, I assume it can, but I wouldn't leave that on by default.  It's annoying because it interferes with my use of the tree.
