Have the latest beta but when I try to run it it gives a windows exception error with the dialog stating windows - no disk.
Have tried removing the application and re-installing but gives same error. Not sure if there's some incorrect registry key being left.
Any ideas?
You can try to move the setting files (in "%appdata%\Advanced_Library") somewhere else and see if AL starts again.
Did you change your drive letters? If so, you can adjust the paths in the settings files with a text editor.
Thanks for the reply. I did change the drive letters (moved my runtimes) a little while ago but I did a full search/replace on the appropriate .xml files and all worked fine.
I was using it without issue immediately before it failed. Closed it down at the end of a session, next time I opened it it gave the error and hasn't run since, nothing that I can think of changed in between.
I have uninstalled it, removed the directory in application data (xp install) and tried re-installing but it gives me the same error when trying to run and even gives an error on the install.
I'm stumped...
Do other .NET appilcations work?
If not, I'd suggest to remove the .NET framework and reinstall it...
Yep, other .net stuff works as far as I'm aware.
I'm getting a .NET Runtime 2.0 error in the event log. Can't uninstall .net 2, wont allow me because of other program reliance. Did a repair (I think) but it's still giving me the same error when I install AL.
EventType clr20r3, P1 advanced_library.exe, P2 1.9.2.12, P3 4c746cda, P4 mscorlib, P5 2.0.0.0, P6 4be90358, P7 344a, P8 26d, P9 system.io.ioexception, P10 NIL.
Well, that doesn't help too much :-)
Please send me the exact error message you're getting and the AL_log.txt (from the temp folder).
The error message is the standard windows popup - an error has occurred and needs to close etc. - the contents of the error are a full hex dump which I can't copy.
Nothing in AL_log.txt other than.
"-----------------------
-----------------------
-----------------------
-----------------------
-----------------------
-----------------------
-----------------------
-----------------------
-----------------------"
Deleted the log file, ran the shortcut again and get a new log file with a single
"-----------------------" in it.
If I run the .exe directly I get the Windows - No Disk dialog error "Exception Processing Message c0000013 Parameters 75b6bf7c4 75b6bf7c 75b6bf7c"
Cancel, Try again or Continue from that gives me the error occured pop up again with another row of "-----------------------" added to the log file.
Uninstalling I notice that the directories created in \local settings\apps\2.0 are not removed. There is a Data directory hierarchy here and another with a random string with the AL.exe and other duplicate items in this tree (same as in the location where I installed the app). I assume this is standard .net stuff (outside of my knowledge) and normal?
Since these don't get removed on the uninstall but I have manually deleted them as part of the uninstall, are there any registry keys that have perhaps been left behind that are still pointing at the original created directory names and can now no longer find them? Hence the i.o./no disk error stuff? Just guessing...
Did you maybe change the configuration folder in AL? If so, you can try to find "Advanced Library" with the registry editor and delete or change the subkey "ConfigurationDir".
Hit the nail on the head!
Was pointing at a drive label assigned to one of the card readers on my monitor - although, why it had picked that up I don't know, certainly never set it to that value and it has always been that value.
No worries, just need to copy back across my saved .xml files and can use it again.
Thanks for the quick reply and support - I seem to remember it was me who suggested being able to specify the config directory as well! ;D
Cheers! ;D ;D ;D
