Title: AL With Multiple Poser installations and different versions
Post by: sparrownightmare on July 19, 2007, 10:22:10 PM
Hi.  I haven't seen anyone ask this so I thought I would.  I currently have both versions 6 and 7 pro of poser on my system.  I have to keep 6 because I import files to Carrara 5 Pro from poser and the transposer program carrara uses to do this will not work with version 7 of poser (yet).  Now I need to know if it is possible to get AL and the RPC daemon to work with both versions on the same system?  Do I need to install it twice?  Are there any special considerations I need to be aware of?  Any Help Appreciates

Well, there isn't really anything you need to do. As long as the runtime you're trying to load items from is linked in the Poser version currently running no problems should arise.

Double install isn't necessary and won't work anyway.

Well I tried it the simple way and it didn't work.  It lets me import one character or morph etc, and then if I try to import another one to poser from AL, it seems to go into some kind of odd infinite loop.

Do you mean AL or PRPC?

Well I load in the main figure, usually V3 or V4, then I check to make sure it loaded alright in Poser, then I go back to AL and try to load in some clothing item or morph and it gives me the error that prpc is either busy or not installed, and if I go back to poser I see the PRPC window open and it's in some kind of infinite loop.

Did you try using a different PRPC version?

No, but I just decided to stick with using poser 7 and it works fine.  I just have to be careful what meshes I use so I can use the poser 6 executable with Transposer to get stuff into Carrara.
