Title: Beta 1.7.0.0 doesn't start
Post by: esha on December 29, 2006, 12:56:34 PM
I downloaded and installed Version 1.0 and it worked quite fine.
Then I noticed that there was a new beta version and I installed it.
When I try to start it, I get the error message: "Could not load index file. Use synchronize library... " and so on.
I clicked OK and then Windows XP tells me that there was a problem and AL had to be terminated and it offers me to send a problem report to Microsoft.
So I can't synchronize the library because AL doesn't even start. What went wrong?

Thank you,
esha

It still does not work. I get exactly the same error messages, and it refuses to start.  :(
I attach the log file again.

I've looked at the log file, The first that I see repeating is this:

System.IO.FileNotFoundException: Could not find file 'C:\Dokumente und Einstellungen\user\Anwendungsdaten\Advanced_Library\library_index.xml'.

I'd suggest going into the 'Add/Remove Programs` control panel applet and uninstalling any versions of AL that you have. After that, make sure that 'C:\Dokumente und Einstellungen\user\Anwendungsdaten\Advanced_Library\' no longer exists.

I think that there may be something held over from a previous install that the new version isn't happy with. After doing this, reinstall the latest beta in Dizzi's link above. This should force AL to recreate any preferences that it needs.
