Did you know that the latest AL betas can show the references in Poser files?

How about... creating files with links to reduced resolution image files?

Before i make a pretty interface for something no one wants, anyone interested in an option to automatically create reduced resolution MAT files (and of course images)?

That would be either completely automagically or just preparing everything and loading copies of the images files into your prefered application so you can resize them with the app's advanced functions rather than relying on the standard resizeing...

What do you mean?

Would this utility take an existing MAT pose or Material setting and downsize the textures, so if you had MAT-CretinHead.pz2 using a 4000x4000 texture, your utility would resize the texture to 1024x1024, and then create a MAT-LittleCretinHead.pz2 that refers to it?

If so, I can see it being useful, but not nearly as useful as e-Frontier employing some programmers to fix the long standing memory management shortcomings in Poser that make the use of hi-res textures a shortcut to a locked up machine and renders of infinite duration. ;)

If it isn't that, could you explain a little more what you had in mind?

Yes, that's basically what would happen.
- Right click a material (pose) file
- choose resize textures
- choose resize options
- click load
then the existing textures will be either resized automatically or just copied and loaded into your image editor (so you can use that to resize the copies), a new material (pose) file referencing those new textures will be created (and loaded).

OK, so this would be integrated into AL, then?  That does sound like a useful tool.  My preference would be for the resizing to be done in the program, if it's possible to use high quality resizing algorithms.

It might be nice it might be if you could select a MAT pose or Material file in AL, and see a panel with thumbnails of the textures that the pose loads.  Then clicking on each texture preview you could choose to resize or even substitute a completely different texture, before finally submitting the modified pose and textures to Poser.
