Did you know that the latest AL betas can show the references in Poser files?

Just heard about AL.

Couldn't make out from the info on site.

Does it support multiple External Runtimes?
If yes, do they have to be added to P6 first with the +,
or can AL add them to Poser 6 as and when needed?

You can drag any folder into AL and have AL load stuff from there. If it is Poser files you have to ensure that the runtimes the files are in are added to Poser, too.

So yes, you can use external runtimes but you have to add them in Poser yourself. But after you've done that, you can take those settings into AL (with the later betas).

Okay, I'm not understanding...I use multiple external runtimes for Poser6 and I am not understanding how this will work with AL.   So this means I can/t remove anything I've already added to P6?  I thought I  would be bypassing this with AL so I wouldnt' have to bother with Poser's library setup?  Sorry, it can take a bit for me to grasp these things...once it makes sense to me I'm fine.
Since I only have a handful of things directly dl to Poser I'm not understanding how to get everthing else into AL.

The problem here is the way Poser finds non library files (Textures, ...): from the references in the files. These are usually relative. That means they are written like this in the library (Pose/Character/...) files: :runtime:textures:...

So to be able to load these files into Poser without getting the "file not found" message, you need to have a propper runtime setup. So if you already have multiple runtimes, just keep them that way and added inside Poser. If you don't have a runtime added from which you're trying to load stuff with AL, it will (as long as it references an external file like a texture) not work, Poser will go on a long, long filehunt.

You can of course rearange everything from the library categories the way you like.
Either move all items from different library categories (character, hair, prop,...) into one folder or keep them in their categories and use the same structure in the differenct categories and have AL merge them into one folder for display.

If you can explain what you're intending to do, i'm sure i can give you some advice on how to achieve that the best way.

Can a batch file be created to add external runtimes to Poser from within AL,
to make it more user friendly that Posers + method?

Or indeed a small standalone app\utility?

Have a look at http://poser.rois-sorciers.com/ShaderWorks/. Maybe that does what you want.
