New Version Installs always lose location of Poser and Sort Categories

I've been meaning to report this for a while.  Whenever I install a new version of AL, the settings for the location of the Poser executable and the "Sort Categories Alphabetically" switch are lost.

Otherwise, a really great job on the latest betas.  I actually use this alongside PBoost now.  For the times when I can't use the RPC because I'm scared of it answering Yes to dialogs that I want to answer No, I use PBooost.  PBooost gets files out of the Poser search path so that I don't have to wait nine and a half hours for the library palette to redraw whenever I switch libraries. ;)  AL gives me the ability to group things by context instead of by file type.  All it needs now is some way of integrating with PBooost so that AL knows that the bank a file is located in has been switched out (relax ... just kidding)

Looks like you need to install via setup.exe to not lose the settings. Added that to the beta information on the download page.

Nope.  Still not working for me (1.0.5.11) whether using the setup.exe or not.

You're starting AL from the start menu?

I'm not sure what you mean.  I extract the contents of the Advanced_Library_1_0_5_11.zip file into a temporary directory, then I extract setup.exe into there and run setup.exe - when I want to run AL, I run it from the start menu with: Start -> All Programs -> acb -> Advanced Library

When I then start Advanced Library and go to the tab: Settings -> [Load into ... / Applications] -> Poser, the text field labelled: "Poser.exe or other program to load Scene files:" is blank, regardless of what it was set to in the previous version.  Once set, it stays set on subsequent uses of the program until a new version is installed.

The check box labelled "Sort Categories alphabetically" on the tab: Settings -> Misc. is also always reset on a new install.

That should have worked...

Try http://neocron.webspaceforme.net/library/installer/Advanced_Library_1_0_5_14.zip. For me it picked up the old settings without using setup... There's also a button on the "Misc Tab" that should get the old settings...

No, that doesn't work either.  And the "Get Settings" button does not get the settings.  All it does is change the position and size of the AL window.

Anyway, never mind, it's a minor thing and once the app has stabilised the number of versions installed will drop dramatically.

Dizzi

Well... does it at least change the size to what it's been in the previous version?

Are you installing with a user account with administrator rights?

No, it does not change to the size and position of the previous version.  In fact, it completely scraps those settings and moves the window xPos, yPos, Width & Height back to what they are after a clean install.

Yes, I am installing with Administrator rights.

Don't worry about it.  It's no big deal.  When AL settles down I won't be installing new versions as frequently so it won't be an issue.

Dizzi

Well, doesn't look like Microsofts new way to store application settings, is very usefull, considering how often it's failing (can't even save the keyboard shortcuts on some machines)... Guess it's better to write my own.
