What is PoseMagic2Pose?
PoseMagic2Pose's purpose is to convert a Poser Scene file (pz3) that contains poses achieved with 'PoseMagic' into regular pose files that can be used without PoseMagic.
Of course you can also use it to extract any other figure poses from a pz3 ;-)

What will PoseMagic2Pose cost?
PoseMagic2Pose is and will be free for non commercial use.

If you're using it commercially (eg. using it to create pose packages), you will have to purchase it, when it is available after the beta test. (Price: between $5 and $10, probably the lower end ;-))

Requirements
PoseMagic2Pose is a Java Application based on Sun's Java 1.4.1.
If you do not have Java installed and are a Windows user, please download it from Sun's Server. You'll want the latest JRE (not the JDK!).
If you're using an Apple computer, please check Apple's Site.

Now you only need to download the PoseMagic2Pose.jar file. (Internet Explorer on Windows might save it as ".zip" - that is wrong. Please manually change the extension to ".jar" after you saved it - please do not unzip the file!) With a properly installed Java environment, you can run it like any other program (just double click it :-)). You can place it anywhere you like, no installation necessary.

Usage
1. Click the top most "Choose..." button to select the Poser scene file to work with
2. Click "Load"
3. Select the figure you want to get the pose information from
4. Adjust settings (see below for information on settings)
5. Select the target Pose file via the bottom most "Choose..." button.
6. Hit the "Save" button!
7. You can now apply the pose to a figure without a PoseMagic prop and it should result in the same pose :-)
8. Report bugs / post questions / ask for features here ;-)

If you're lost, you may want to check the detailed workflow description.

Dizzi I'm sorry I'm lost here! ???
I've downloaded the zip and extracted to a seperate folder called 'posermagic2pose'
In this directory sit 25 .class files.

I downloaded and installed the Java JRE
If I double click on any of the class files windows prompts me to find the type of application to open with but I can't find java in my pop down list. Help!

Dizzi

Do NOT unzip the JAR. Although it's basically a ZIP file, it's like an executable for Java. Just double click it.

Hi, I have downloaded the beta 3 version as well. You have to unzip it. Where do you put it? Cheers arrow1

Dizzi

Does it look like in the attached image on your PC? This is what Explorer should display.
All you have to do is right click and select "open" or just double click.

Otherwise you may want to chose "open with" and then select the java executable (java.exe within the bin folder of the java installation).

Before you completely give up on the application, create a new file called "execute.bat" in the same folder you downloaded the .jar to.
Put the following line of text into it and then run the execute.bat batch file:
javaw -jar PoseMagic2Pose.jar

But i'd really like to solve your problems without the batch file. That's why it's beta :-)

BETA 4 released:

Changes:

  • In addition to translation and rotation, taper and twist are by default included when generating a pose.
  • You can now select multiple pz3 files. When you hit load, it'll load the next selected file, so you don't have to use the "choose" button all the time.
  • BATCH PROCESSING added: A folder named PM2P_batch will be created within the folders containing the selected PZ3s and all but the frame selection options will be respected - it will always save all frames (that doesn't matter if you only posed at frame 1 and didn't touch any other frame).

Sorry, detailed description has to wait some more hours.

OMG!

Now i see your problem! It's an Internet Explorer Bug/Feature! Please, when clicking the download-links, save the file to your harddrive and then rename "Posemagic2Pose.zip" to as "Posemagic2Pose.jar". Don't unzip it! Just rename!
They don't exist as .zip on the server, IE is doing the dumbest thing i've ever seen it do by changing the file type to zip.

I've just created a short workflow description for PM2P. It also contains info on batch processing, frames and such.

I also uploaded PoseMagic2PoseBETA6.jar. You don't need that Beta, if you've got Java 1.4.2 or higher installed. BETA 6 is just compiled with Java 1.4.1, to make it (hopefully) work on some more MAC OSX's.

BETA 7 released:
PoseMagic2Pose.jar

Fixed:
- Close-Button works now ;)
- Added some more tooltip information to various controls
- The last selected directories for the pose and scene files are stored to an "PoseMagic2Pose.ini" file on exit and of course restored next time you run PM2P.
- Rearranged the the form a bit
